I bought this skirt back in the summer on sale. I had absolutely nowhere to even plan to wear it to, but it was such an amazing price (half off, plus my staff discount), and it's so incredibly gorgeous. I planned to wear it to dinner one night in Montreal when Phil and I were there in the summer, but we didn't end up going anywhere too fancy, so it's been sitting unworn in my closet.
This year again for my birthday (it was last Saturday), Phil and I did a simple dinner just the two of us, but I thought, hey, it's my birthday and I'l go big if I want to. So I pulled this baby out, and couldn't have been happier. Because it is quite a summery skirt (the pink is fine, but the floral appliqué does kind of limit when I can wear it) I felt I needed to edge it up a bit and make it appropriate for fall. Last year with my statement skirt I wore a fancier leather jacket (no ribbing and it was collarless) and daintier shoes. This year, though, I opted for a more biker style jacket, and chunkier black booties. I still love the way the skirt looked this way, plus I got to feel a little princessy in my big skirt for my birthday (especially when we were inside the restaurant and I took off the jacket). Hopefully next spring/summer I'll have somewhere a little dressier to go, because I can't wait to try this skirt with something a little more delicate and fresh!
