The World Cup of Hockey is currently happening in Toronto, and since Phil and I had a day off together last Tuesday we decided to head down to the Fan Village, which is around the Distillery District downtown. There are tons of booths, food trucks, activities, and a big screen where they show the games, as well as a stage where they sometimes have performers. Our plan was to check out all the cool things in the Fan Village and then head over to the Distillery to eat and hang around there, and then come back and watch the Canada vs. USA game at 8pm.
While we were walking around the grounds, someone approached us asking if we wanted to enter into a contest run by Adidas Canada, where we had to take a picture of us in team Canada jerseys (that they provided) on a zamboni, holding up a sign that said "Team Canada vs. Team Europe", tweet the picture with the hashtag "GetMeToTheGame", and if we were chosen we would win tickets to said game the next day. So we both tweeted the picture to double our chances of winning and headed over to the Distillery District. There we finally visited the "Love" wall with all the locks with people's name on them, we went into a couple stores, and we also went to El Catrin for an early dinner/late lunch. Phil had never been there and it was just incredible. For dessert we went to Cacao 70, which we tried for the first time in Montreal this summer and loved so we knew we had to have it again.
We were sitting waiting to pay the bill at Cacao 70 when a notification popped up on my phone that I got a direct message from Adidas Canada on twitter. I momentarily freaked out. I opened the message and they said that I won the contest and just to reply to them before a certain time other wise they would pick another winner. I told Phil that we won the tickets and at first he didn't believe me, and then we were both freaking out and were so excited (he is the biggest hockey fan I know). We ran back over to the Fan Village to thank the guy who told us about the contest and told him that we ended up winning, and he was excited for us too. With all this momentum we headed to the Pepsi Main Stage to see the Canada vs. USA game screened and that was an exciting game too (we won 4-2).
They also had some "Instagram fashionistas" displaying their fall fashion picks from various stores around Yorkdale, one of which I am a huge fan. Jenny from Crazy Style Love was there and I was so excited to meet her in person. We got to chat a little bit and she is truly one of the sweetest ladies. Definitely check out her blog and Instagram!
