I purchased this dress last summer and loved how summery it was and how much wear I could get out of it. I wore it a ton with sandals and little else, as the white helped me keep cool in the heat, and the dress itself is so flattering and cute. After this summer, I didn't want to put it away all too quickly, even though the colour and style were extremely summery. Luckily, though, it still looks great with a dark denim jacket and brown and burgundy accessories to make it very fall appropriate. I'm absolutely loving a boho dress with boots for this transition period we're having (and probably will continue to right into late October), so this dress is perfect for a summer-to-september look. I also love how great it looks against this farm/country background! How are you transitioning your summer items into fall? Let me know in the comments! Dress: American Eagle Outfitters

It's that time of year, when you don't want to put away your summer items just yet because it's still pretty hot out, but you know you need to add some sort of fall element to them to transition them into September. Especially for those of us who aren't quite ready to say goodbye to summer fashion, this can be a tricky time. Keep reading to see how you can transition your summer wardrobe into cooler weather! Luckily a lot of summery boho colours and styles can be worn in the fall, by tweeking something as simple as your shoes. Like with an orange or burgundy dress, switch out summery sandals for nude boots, and add in an accessory with a bit of texture, like this feather necklace. And if you want to try this outfit even later into the fall, add a nude or taupe suede jacket. Left Dress: Alice + Olivia Sunglasses: Ray Ban Shoes: Steve Madden Right Necklace: Peacocks Shoes: Windsor Store One of my favourite looks in cooler weather is a flowy skirt paired with a leather jacket. I love the contrast of the fabrics, and it makes for a great transitional outfit, whether it be winter to spring, or summer to fall. A skirt you would've worn with a bustier and heels for date night in the summer can be transitioned by adding in darker tones (like a grey shirt and dark blue bag), and of course adding a leather jacket. Finish off the look with chunky black boots for that September weather. But you can still get a lot more wear out of your white ones by mixing in heavy fabrics and fall colours. White culottes are super easy to wear in the summer, by pairing them with a fun top and heels for a nighttime event, but add some fall elements and I'm loving this look for an afternoon meeting. The turtleneck and loafers say "professional", but you can add some fun into the look with the culottes and the laid-back drapey trench, especially in this gorgeous mustard colour (or as Pantone is calling it this season, "Spicy Mustard"!). A look including a dusty rose blouse is instantly transformed from breezy summer office look to fall-ready when you switch out white shorts for a black leather skirt and a blazer in one of Fall 2016's hottest colours. Left Top: Uniqlo Shorts: Helmut Lang Bag: Urban Expressions Shoes: Rupert Sanderson Right: Skirt: Alexander McQueen Blazer: Oasis Bag: Givenchy Shoes: Dune Fall isn't a time for just muted colours. In fact, you can up your autumn style cred by adding bright pops of colour into your outfits, by keeping the rest of the look simple and dark. You can wear these colourful heels (that I used in a summer post here) with other bright colours in the summer, but in the fall go for some classic army green chinos and a plain black blouse. Make it even more cool-weather appropriate by adding a leather jacket or black wool blazer. Left
