As much as I love intricately planning fall outfits (literally I daydream about it all day long, especially working in a fashion retail setting), there are times when I'm in a rush and just want to throw something on quickly, but still look stylish. Enter the sweater dress. This is definitely not a new trend for cold weather, but I love the turtleneck style and assymentrical detail for 2016. And while grey is a pretty basic colour, it's very classic, and looks amazing with fall colours (burgundy, navy, green, etc.)
2. Frayed Bottom Denim River Island
I have yet to find a perfect pair of frayed bottom denim. Because of my height, any ankle or calf length pants are still too long on me (the struggle is so real, guys), and with a little kick flare at the bottom, they just look too funny. So I'm still very much on the hunt and hopefully I find a good pair while the weather is still warm enough that I can expose some of my ankle! I find this type of denim just looks so chic with pretty much anything you pair it with, and it's great for those who find that they are constantly wearing the same style of denim all year round.
3. Off The Shoulder Top Intermix
There's no better way this trend could've been updated for fall than this top. With the colour, suede, and ruffles, this is not your summery off the shoulder top. Even though your shoulders are bare, the fabric is heavy enough to keep you warmer, and if you do need to add a jacket on top for chilly nights, you can still get the full detail of the ruffles. This top will go great with black pants for a nighttime event, or distressed denim for weekend wear.
4. Bohemian Dress White House Black Market
I love something easy and flowy to throw on in the summer, and if you just add long sleeves and moody fall florals, a dress like this is perfect for when the weather gets a little cooler. Wear it with lace up flats right now, and when the temperature drops even more, switch them out for boots and add a leather jacket for a super chic fall boho look.
5. Statement Choker Rosantica
While most things in the summer are laid back and breezy, take your choker to the next level this fall with a statement style. I love this one because it's a great balance between statement and simple (the multiple strands and size, but it's still gold so it will go with a ton of different outfits), so I can get the most wear out of it all season long, and definitely into winter and spring.
6. Pink Bomber Jacket Helmut Lang
This item encompasses two huge trends. Pink, and bomber jackets. Perfect for that early fall weather when it's not too cold yet and all you need is a little cover up (and while I'm still wearing my classic green cargo jacket, there are times when I want a little update on an outfit). Pink is a new neutral, so wear it with other fall colours, such as deep purple, burgundy, and mustard yellow. I especially love that this one isn't a super bright or baby pink; it's more muted and therefore great for the cooler weather.
7. Leopard Booties L.K. Bennett
As always, I'm daydreaming of leopard footwear. As it is for most fall seasons, the print is super trendy, and this heeled bootie is perfect to add a little something extra to your look. Even if you're not dressing minimalist and therefore need a statement piece for your outfit, add this print in with other fall prints and colours for a super stylish look.
8. Burgundy Tote Bag Meli Melo
I love my little cross-body bags and bucket bag, but when I'm working a lot and I need to be able to just throw anything and everything in there, a tote bag is a must. I have some great basic colours (black, brown, white), but this season I am really craving a beautiful burgundy one. Again, it would be the perfect balance between a statement bag (because of the colour) and something still simple enough that I could wear it with practically anything (because of the simpleness of the tote style).
9. Pinstripes Givenchy
Pinstripes are extremely in this season, and I love the trend because you could wear them in various different pieces (pants, dress, skirt, coat). But I really love a pinstripe blazer, as I find it's pretty classic. You can wear it with a pair of matching pinstripe or plain black pants and a blouse to work, and then with jeans and a t-shirt for an off-duty look.
