I purchased this dress last summer and loved how summery it was and how much wear I could get out of it. I wore it a ton with sandals and little else, as the white helped me keep cool in the heat, and the dress itself is so flattering and cute. After this summer, I didn't want to put it away all too quickly, even though the colour and style were extremely summery. Luckily, though, it still looks great with a dark denim jacket and brown and burgundy accessories to make it very fall appropriate. I'm absolutely loving a boho dress with boots for this transition period we're having (and probably will continue to right into late October), so this dress is perfect for a summer-to-september look. I also love how great it looks against this farm/country background! How are you transitioning your summer items into fall? Let me know in the comments! Dress: American Eagle Outfitters

I've only ever done a "Weekend Highlights" post before, pretty much because nothing too exciting really happens to me during the week. It's mostly work, and going for dinner with Phil. But last week was one of the most exciting weeks filled with amazing things that I just had to share with you guys, so I've created a new series! The World Cup of Hockey is currently happening in Toronto, and since Phil and I had a day off together last Tuesday we decided to head down to the Fan Village, which is around the Distillery District downtown. There are tons of booths, food trucks, activities, and a big screen where they show the games, as well as a stage where they sometimes have performers. Our plan was to check out all the cool things in the Fan Village and then head over to the Distillery to eat and hang around there, and then come back and watch the Canada vs. USA game at 8pm. While we were walking around the grounds, someone approached us asking if we wanted to enter into a contest run by Adidas Canada, where we had to take a picture of us in team Canada jerseys (that they provided) on a zamboni, holding up a sign that said "Team Canada vs. Team Europe", tweet the picture with the hashtag "GetMeToTheGame", and if we were chosen we would win tickets to said game the next day. (Photo below) So we both tweeted the picture to double our chances of winning and headed over to the Distillery District. There we finally visited the "Love" wall with all the locks with people's name on them, we went into a couple stores, and we also went to El Catrin for an early dinner/late lunch. Phil had never been there and it was just incredible. For dessert we went to Cacao 70, which we tried for the first time in Montreal this summer and loved so we knew we had to have it again. We were sitting waiting to pay the bill at Cacao 70 when a notification popped up on my phone that I got a direct message from Adidas Canada on twitter. I momentarily freaked out. I opened the message and they said that I won the contest and just to reply to them before a certain time other wise they would pick another winner. I told Phil that we won the tickets and at first he didn't believe me, and then we were both freaking out and were so excited (he is the biggest hockey fan I know). We ran back over to the Fan Village to thank the guy who told us about the contest and told him that we ended up winning, and he was excited for us too. With all this momentum we headed to the Pepsi Main Stage to see the Canada vs. USA game screened and that was an exciting game too (we won 4-2). (The winning Tweet!) (A beautiful view at the Fan Village) (The "Love" wall at the Distillery. So beautiful to see all the names on all the locks) (Pulled pork and pineapple soft shell taco at El Catrin) (Chocolate marshmallow pizza at Cacao 70) Wednesday after work Phil and I headed to the Adidas store at Yonge and Dundas to pick up our tickets, plus two $50 vouchers for the concessions at the ACC, so needless to say dinner was a bit more extravagant than planned. Our seats were amazing; right behind the net in section 100, row 13. And to top it all off, Canada won 4-1 that night. (The greatest seats I've ever had for a sports game) (Thanks Adidas Canada!) Thursday night Phil and I attended Yorkdale Mall's "Style By Night" event. The stores were open one hour later than usual, and most were having some pretty awesome deals (eg. 20% your purchase; free gift with purchase). There were also pop up booths of stores that won't be open until October. Nordstrom had a cool photo booth that took a boomerang (you can see ours on my Instagram). Nadege, a French patisserie, was sampling their delicious chocolate, and now I definitely can't wait to try their whole menu. NYX also had a photobooth, and was giving out coupons that if you attend their opening day on October 21st you can get a free lipstick. They also had some "Instagram fashionistas" displaying their fall fashion picks from various stores around Yorkdale, one of which I am a huge fan. Jenny from Crazy Style Love was there and I was so excited to meet her in person. We got to chat a little bit and she is truly one of the sweetest ladies. Definitely check out her blog and Instagram! (The Nadege booth) (Being cute and silly at the NYX photo booth) The week before last I found out that I received a promotion that I applied for in May. I started the position officially on Sunday, but I won't be moving locations for another couples weeks still. The news has been giving me mixed emotions because I've been working so hard towards this for quite some time and I'm so excited to finally get it, but I'll also be leaving my friends who have become my family where I've been working for 5 years. Just when I thought I couldn't get any luckier this week, this past Sunday a bunch of these friends threw me a surprise celebration dinner, and what a way to end off the greatest week ever, and to start my new job. I've truly made friends for life and I can't wait to make even more and continue moving my career forward! (Celebratory decorations and a peach infused pina colada) (Words cannot express how thankful I am for these people and how much I'm going to miss them)
