I already spoke about these in my Spring Wish List a few months ago, but I wanted to stress just how much I love this trend right now. A great way to stay cool in the summer is to keep your hair off your face, either by wearing a headband (see #10 below), or by pulling your hair back into a top knot or braid. Finish off this look by adding a pair of statement or long earrings. Fringe earrings are still one of my favourites of this trend, especially in my favourite summer colour, but if you wanted to stay simple you could also go for a dainty pair of gold or silver earrings in a triangle shape (see the pair I used in my Spring Wish List post; link above).
2. Anklet Accessorize
I haven't worn an anklet probably since the early 2000's when they were really popular, but I've definitely seen them around and they are definitely back. You would think with all these crazy trendy shoes out now that there would be no need for ankle bling, but bigger and more is better this summer. It's all about colour this season and no matter what colour outfit or shoe you're wearing, your anklet will still match.
3. Aviators Boohoo
Aviators are a classic sunglass choice, but this season, trade in your basic black or silver ones for a bold colour.
4. Beach Bag House Of Perna
A beach bag is a must for summer, but this year I'm loving the open concept ones that don't close and are wide at the top. It allows you to throw in more stuff without having to squish things in to do up the zipper, and it makes it easier to look for things when you need them. A wicker bag will be able to keep it's shape, and the material is also very on trend right now. And of course, the colourful fringe pompoms don't hurt either.
5. Pineapple Necklace Rachel Jackson
There's not much I can say about this piece other than it's too adorable not to have. Pineapples have been super trendy for a couple years now, and they're still popping up everywhere for the summer. I finally got myself a little gold pineapple necklace and it's just the cutest and easiest accessory to wear anytime, anywhere.
6. Visor Topshop
A straw boater will never go out of style for summer, but this year try the new take on the classic summer hat.
7. Colourful Sandals Schutz
Again, I already spoke about colourful, all-out shoes in my post a couple months ago, but they are still a must-have accessory for summer. It's worth repeating that a colourful pair of sandals can take you everywhere (a day of shopping, brunch, drinks, dinner) and can match with any outfit (they can be a statement piece in a simple black and white outfit or match with a vibrant red, yellow, or orange). Find a pair that works for you and stick with them this summer!
8. Choker Forever 21
You've seen flower crowns, now here are flower chokers. Chokers are extremely in right now, and for the summer, try a very appropriate flower choker in a light colour like pink or white. It can be your statement piece in a basic t-shirt and denim cutoffs look, but can also dress up a nighttime look of a black jumpsuit or romper and heels. But of course, if you just want a simple one to wear whenever and wherever, a black one is always a safe bet.
9. Bathing Suit Camilla
Full pieces are back in, but choose a funky one in an exciting print and cool cutouts. A lot of people tend to stay away from full pieces because they find them boring, but with a super deep V and interesting details, I'm finding the new take on full pieces to be more exciting than bikinis. Other fun styles to try include off-the-shoulder and side cutouts.
10. Embellished Headband Jennifer Behr
Yes, flower crowns are still on the scene, and yes they're gorgeous, but now they have a new and exciting spin on them. Try an embellished headband (this one still has crystallized flowers to make it very summery) to keep your hair off your face in these hot temperatures. Save the flower crowns for the festivals and up your street style with an embellished or crystal headband!
